Introduction to Madesh Provincial Assembly
The Madesh Provincial Assembly is the legislative Division per the Parliamentary System of Democratic Governance at the Subnational Level, also known as the Provincial Level in Nepal. The Madhesh Province Assembly has been formed with a total of 107 members, with 64 elected from 64 constituencies under the first-past-the-post electoral system and 43 elected from the proportional representation electoral system. In accordance with the constitutional provision that the exercise of state power in Nepal is carried out by the union, provinces, and local levels, this province was established on 2072.06.03 as "Province No. 2", and on 2078 Magh 5, this province was renamed "Madhesh Province". Article 175 of the constitution has provided for a "Province Assembly" to act as the executive body of the province. This prestigious institution was established on 21 Magh 2074. There is a provision for the Speaker and Deputy Speaker to be elected from among the members to run the assembly, and the term of office of the members of the Provincial Assembly is five years.
