Ministry of Agriculture, Land Management and Cooperatives
Ministry of Land Management, Agriculture, and Cooperatives, Gandaki Province, through its Directorate of Agriculture, to address critical challenges in the region’s agricultural sector. This partnership began by identifying ineffective agricultural subsidy programs as a key barrier to maximizing government investment returns. PRC conducted a focused case study on mechanization subsidy programs, pinpointing bottlenecks in their design and delivery. In the second year, the collaboration expanded to include a comprehensive study of various input subsidy programs, incorporating beneficiary surveys across three districts to assess their impact and accessibility. To foster innovative solutions, PRC has entered into formal partnership with the Ministry to organize the Gandaki Agriculture Hackathon, bringing together policy stakeholders, private sector actors, universities, and civil society organizations to drive meaningful policy dialogue and develop impactful solutions for the province’s agricultural challenges. Additionally, this year’s partnership with the Ministry also includes organizing farmers’ awareness workshops to bridge information gaps, educating farmers on subsidy processes and objectives to enhance program effectiveness. PRC is navigating the collaboration with the Ministry by identifying key drivers of change and supporting the Ministry in an evidence-based decision making process.
